How to interpret the result

BMI is calculated by dividing your weight (in kilograms) by the square of your height (in meters). It is a population-level screening indicator: it does not distinguish muscle mass from fat, nor does it assess body distribution, lab results or health history.

BMI (kg/m²)Classification (WHO)
Below 18.5Underweight
18.5 to 24.9Healthy weight
25.0 to 29.9Overweight
30.0 to 34.9Obesity class I
35.0 to 39.9Obesity class II
40.0 or moreObesity class III
Important: this calculator is an educational screening tool and does not perform diagnosis, prescription or treatment. The values are WHO population references and may not apply to athletes, pregnant people, older adults, children or people with a lot of muscle mass. Only an in-person medical consultation can assess your case individually.

BMI is only the starting point

At Corradi Medical, BMI is one data point among many. The assessment considers body composition (with bioimpedance), lab results, history, routine, sleep, nutrition and physical activity to guide individualized medical decisions, within Sports Medicine and Lifestyle Medicine.

Every course of action is defined in consultation, in person and personalized. No guidance, prescription or medication adjustment is made based on weight and height alone or remotely.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about BMI

How is BMI calculated?

BMI is your weight (in kilograms) divided by the square of your height (in meters). For example, a person weighing 70 kg and 1.75 m tall has a BMI of 70 ÷ (1.75 × 1.75) = 22.9 kg/m². It is a simple population-level screening calculation.

Does BMI diagnose obesity or overweight?

BMI is a screening indicator, not a diagnosis. It points to WHO reference ranges, but it does not assess body composition, fat distribution, lab results or health history. A diagnosis can only be made by a physician in an individual assessment.

Does the BMI result apply to everyone?

No. The WHO ranges are references for the general adult population and may not represent athletes and people with a lot of muscle mass, pregnant people, older adults and children very well. That is why the result should be interpreted by a healthcare professional.

Does this calculator store my data?

No. The calculation happens entirely in your browser, in real time. The weight and height you enter are not sent to or stored on any server.

What is the next step after calculating my BMI?

If you want to understand what this number means for your case, the best path is a medical assessment. You can start the anamnesis on the website or talk to the Corradi Medical team on WhatsApp to schedule an appointment with Dr. Guilherme Corradi.

O IMC é apenas um ponto de partida. O que realmente importa é a composição corporal, o condicionamento e os hábitos de cada pessoa — e isso a gente entende com avaliação médica, movimento e acompanhamento.
